Zurich Travel Guide

Contrary to popular belief, Zurich is not the capital of Switzerland (which is Bern), just its largest city. Zurich has long been known for being clean and efficient, but only in the last ten years has it truly become a fascinating and worthwhile travel destination.

About Zurich

Zurich covers an area of 35.5 sq. miles (91.88 square Km) and is estimated to have a population of 950.000 people being the largest city in Switzerland. Zurich is Switzerland's main commercial and cultural centre and is widely considered to be one of the world's global cities.

Blindekuh

r5.jpgThis special restaurant definitely needs a reservation. Depending on the day you want to go even up to 6 months ahead. They only have 12 tables and you will be totally in the dark. Your guide/waitress is either blind herself or cannot much at all. You cannot take your watch, mobile phone etc. into the actual eating room but you are asked to leave the things in the lockers because of the displays that can light up. On Sundays there is a set menu for about CHF 70.00. On the other days there are 3 different menus, a couple of desserts and starters available. Sometimes they have a concert or reading for which there is a separate entry fee of CHF 25.00.
