This building which housed in the old days the city’s arsenal was built in 1487 by Buergermeister Hans Waldmann. In 1926 the present restaurant opened. It is extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. So if you want to be sure to eat there, you should make a reservation (smoking/non-smoking). But if you go early like just before 6pm or a bit after then you may get a table which is reserved for a later time ie 7.30 or 8 pm. Service is fast and food comes pretty fast too, so if you get the table even for one hour only you can still make it and have coffee/desert elsewhere afterwards. The menu is in German, English, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian and probably a few more. Just ask! The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. I come here several times a year, actually I have often been here with VTer rebibi and her husband. A word about prices: these are actually very reasonable compared with other restaurants for the same dishes. Quite a few dishes are under USD 20.I usually eat the same which is my favourite there: Cordon Bleu with Roesti (hash browns). The Cordon Bleu is a slice of meat sliced open and filled with tasty cheese and ham.
