Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and has much to offer the interested tourist. Visiting the old town should be at the top of your list of things to do in Zurich. Next in line should be a visit to the Chinese garden, which was a gift to the city from the city of Kimming.

Lake Promenade is a beautiful destination during the summer months, and where you are most likely to find locals sunning them selves during the day, and enjoying the warm night air. If you are a fan of modern and surrealist art then pay a visit to Kunsthaus.

Zurich shopping is about more than Swiss watches and chocolate, in fact tourists should be on the lookout for cheap watches when are generally made in China and can be found anywhere; if you are a fan of chocolate however be sure to visit the Lindt factory store.

Two of the biggest flea markets worth revisiting in Zurich are Flohmarkt Burkliplatz, and Flohmarkt Kanzlei. Neither of these are overly huge, however they each one has around 400 different vendors and presents an interesting shopping experience. Beyond flea markets and chocolate Zurek has a few different shopping districts that each offers its own shopping experience; ask around at your hotel about the different shopping areas and find one that fits your personality best.

Zurich is an international city with tons off for the hungry tourist. Finding a Zurich restaurant largely depends on your budget as prices vary widely from restaurant to restaurant. If you’re on a budget there is no beating Zurich Street food which is often some sort of sausage on handmade artisanal bread.

Veal is also another popular dish in Zurich, and can be found prepared a number of different ways. Finding a Zurich hotel on a budget can be difficult, as most low cost hotels are aimed mainly at students; therefore if you are not willing to pay for luxury hotel it is possible that you’ll find yourself sharing a shower with an entire floor of hotel guests.

The main shopping area is so concentrated that Zurich can be considered a shopping paradise for pedestrians.
Jewelry and Watches Just about every label in the jewelry and watch business can be found in or around Bahnhofstrasse : Cartier, Bvlgari and Tiffany & Co are there as well as all the Swiss watches from Tissot to Patek Philippe. Chocolate and Sweets Confiserie Spruengli, Honold and Teuscher are makers of just about the finest confectionery and all conceivable kinds of chocolate. Fashion Zurich has an incredible number of designer shops spread out along Bahnhofstrasse and both sides of the Limmat. All high-profile international designers are represented and a lot of lesser-known labels can be seen in boutiques that frequently adjust their offerings in accordance with the latest trends : Dior, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, H&M, C&A … Books The English Bookshop stocks a large selection of British and American titles. The Librairie Payot is specialized in English and French books. Interlingua (some English and some German) is the leading language learning bookseller and offers books, tapes and instructional material in any conceivable language. The Travel Book Shop (German only) carries a wide variety of maps, German and English travel guides and literature about different countries and ethnic groups. Scalo Books offers a huge variety of international art books and catalogues from shows all over the world.
